Template display problem
« on: August 22, 2011, 06:16:54 PM »
Hi all,
I am a hopeless newbie to CGI and web design in general! I have cobbled together a site for a friend and after only about 10 hours head scratching managed to make the Newsscript work!
I have now hit another hurdle - I cannot persuade the news feed to display within my template without loosing all its formatting.
Probably easier to post the links than try and explain:

http://www.prettypawsyork.co.uk/headlines.htm

http://www.prettypawsyork.co.uk/news/newsscript.pl

Had enough now (Its 1:15AM in the UK and bed is calling) but I would appreciate any suggestions!
I will check for replies when I surface tomorrow!
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Should have read a little further before posting:

"The template executes from the cgi-bin directory (whether it is located there or not). Hence my relative links were failing. I changed images/image.jpg to ../images/image.jpg and it now works."

Now just need to sort the image upload problem and we are good to go!

As a follow up I found that though the site rendered fine in Chrome the css was not being read by IE. Changing the relative links from ../ to / (1 level down from top level directory) resulted in the site displaying correctly in IE and Chrome. Probably obvious to most forum users but some may find it helpful!
