Beautiful Flat File Databases
« on: December 23, 2015, 11:15:09 PM »
A friend of mine emailed me today with this comment about MySQL.

"Some shared webhosts are now switching to PHP versions 6, which will make normal MySQL obsolete.  The switch would be to MySQLi (i=improved), either using MySQLi prepared statements or PDO (object oriented).  I already have older scripts of mine that no longer work."

I'm glad I have stuck with the flat file setup running under the mature PERL language (EZ scripts). They have been stable and reliable over the years I have being using them, and able to withstand some the vagaries of the ever changing programming landscape.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2016.

That's a great point Paul. Some folks give me a little ribbing for using PERL but we never have to update our sites based on PHP depreciation issues.
