Need serious help with setting up ezmailer LOL
« on: August 19, 2007, 08:01:07 PM »
Ok so I feel like I am riding the short bus here.  :-\  ???

I downloaded the free script for the mailer (btw nice job with the set up. Finding a good one has been a nightmare! Kudos to you guys) I changed the script per the instructions (not sure if I did the file/path names correctly. I was a bit confused as to what I was doing there) and I saved the file with a new name in notepad. Ie angelnetwork.txt.

So I then uploaded it to my server per the instructions and I tried entering $script into my browser and it google searched $script? LOL. Somehow I dont think this was suppose to happen? right.

So I then tried uploading it through my ftp as a peal script. I took the altered script I made and inserted it into the perl script. I then ran the perl script and it pulled a browser window up of the file, i could see part script and some web layouts that looked like the demo. ie. login box, and a few other pieces of the emailer admin area.

And so..here I am, completely lost and dumbfounded. Seriously need help and I am way frustrated at this point with what I am doing. I tried reading through the help section and stuff, but it didnt do much good for the condition I am in. Also, when doing the perl script, I didnt see anything in my ftp for setting permissions? using yahoo.

The other question i had, was the instructions said to upload "all" the files? shouldnt there just be one? ie. the altered script code?

Much gratitude for anyone that can help me out here. They should make relief pills for scripters ! gesh :(

Blessings-

Could you:

1. Give us a link to your test setup?
2. copy/paste your script options here?  (just the options, not the whole script)

Hi & Thank You for responding.

Here is the pearl page that I loaded based off the script changes.
http://goddesschild.biz/tmp/angelnetwork

I am confused as to how do I know I did this right? I don't think I am doing the links in red correctly. it may help to have actual full text examples for the path names etc. for me to go off of. Once I change the script, was it wrong to load it as a pearl script to my server? I was not able to change it in notepad like your instructions said so I tried this way and ended up with the link above. Do I need to go to a URL once it is loaded and this is when it reflects the page like in your demo page? And how do I know what URL to go to once I do it?

Here is the exact script after I made changes to it and loaded into the pearl script through my yahoo server. I will highlight where I think I am having the problems for you to make it easier. Most likely if I didn't highlight it, I didn't change anything else other then what I marked. (I was not able to paste the whole code in here due to 2000 text limit in your forum.)

Thanks again for your help. !

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.  But first thing is: after uploading the script, you should call the script.  so in your browser bar you should call something like:

http://www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/ezmailer.pl

You said you uploaded the file to your server, so maybe you can ask your host support what the corresponding URL is that you should call in your browser address bar for that address and try it.  From there we can go on.

Regards,
EZ

ok so I uploaded the org. file "ezmailer.pl" to my folder. I got the log in screen. But in the instructions you said you need to change the "ezmailer.pl" file and alter it to use it.

This is what I org. did. I still do not know if I did the changes correctly per my org. e-mail request where I listed the script out for someone to check me on what I changed in "red".

So, here I am. I got the log in screen by calling up your file "ezmailer.pl". I would think the solution is fixing the script I made and being able to call that one up? correct?

So, you are at the login screen.  What happens if you enter "testing" for the username and "buba" as your password?  What exactly does it do then?

If possible, also provide me with a link to your script so I can see for myself what is happening or what exact errors the script throws.

Thanks,
EZ

The log in screen does not work. It says the page is not found when I enter the information in.

I provided a link to those helping me many replies ago as requested. I dont feel I am getting anywhere with using this and I am rather discouraged and disappointed.

Thxs.

If the login screen throws a page not found error, then this:
my $script                   = 'http://www.goddesschild.biz/ezmailer.pl';

is wrong.  Are you sure that is the URL to the script?
